Fall-Themed Tradeshows

Trade shows are extremely popular these days and have reached well past just autos and electronics into the deepest niches of popular culture. Unsurprisingly, many of these smaller expos focus on the themes of October when haunted houses appear overnight and stranger things find a place to showcase the latest tools of the trade.

Tools of the Undead

In March, in preparation of Halloween, there was the TransWorld’s National Halloween & Haunted Attractions Show in St. Louis, Missouri. Here, all the scream-inducing instruments of pretend peril were on gruesome display. Everything from torture tables to monster safety seminars were at hand, and one can guess there were plenty of grisly scraps given out as swag. Décor-wise the place takes on the feel of a dungeon of horrors with an over-use of red. Would a few flowers kill them?

Would You Believe, Beer?

The Great American Beer Festival is held in October in Denver, Colorado. There, an estimated 50,000 attendees gather to see the latest beer-making equipment and sample some of the over 2,200 brands of beer on hand. For three days, brew-masters and their happy fans celebrate beer, which may seem redundant, but then again, it’s October!

Looking for the New Crystal Ball 5000X?

Turns out, being a psychic requires a lot of stuff, and on top of that, there is new merchandise every year. And so we have the Annual Psychic Fair and Witchcraft Expo held, oddly enough, in Salem, Massachusetts, near Halloween. The latest technology in Tarot cards, magical crystals and spiritually appropriate apparel are available as well as endless opportunities for palm readings.

High Society Pie

Pumpkin Pie and estate jewelry just seem right together, or so says the Pumpkin Pie Days Antique Show also held in October in Colorado. The blending of the smell of pumpkin and cinnamon in the air with the sight of Mid-century Modernist décor and the chance to peruse Antiquarian books is truly something everyone should experience. Kidding aside, the event has a long history and has been a community event for 40 years, sponsored by the St. Vrain Historical Society.

There are currently tradeshows happening every month in cities all over the world. What are some of your favorite tradeshows? Do you enjoy going to any tradeshows that are unusual?
