Solar Power International ‘19

Trade shows are an excellent way to get your business and services in front of your target audience and network with some of the best in the industry. If you’re in the solar industry, from utilities and installers to commercial and industrial, why not attend the largest solar event in North America, Solar Power International? When it comes to alternative energy, this four-day event is where suppliers and manufacturers go to network with leaders and experts and to gain new insight into the solar industry.

Part of North America Smart Energy Week, Solar Power International (SPI) is focused on creating an environment conducive to the exchange of knowledge, expertise and innovation to drive development of solar energy in the United States. Learn about the value, visibility and networking opportunities at SPI.

About Solar Power Events

Solar Power Events is an organization dedicated to the development of the solar industry through trends, research and technology. Unlike other solar events, SPI proceeds support the expansion of the solar energy market through advocacy and research from two important organizations: Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA).

Celebrating 45 years in the industry, SEIA is a national trade association of the solar energy industry in the United States. This organization works with 1,000 member companies to create cost-competitive solar energy in the U.S., with the intent of eliminating market barriers and educating the public on the benefits of solar power.

SEPA is a nonprofit organization that works with electric-power stakeholders to find solutions to the current issues in smart energy growth and utilization. Through research, education, standards and collaboration, SEPA helps businesses and customers implement solar, storage and demand response, as well as other distributed energy resources.

Solar Power International takes place Sept. 23-26, 2019, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Educational Opportunities

SPI is where solar industry professionals come to network, learn and share ideas. From innovative speaking sessions and sponsored training to in-depth workshops, attendees and exhibitors alike will enjoy education and professional development programs covering several cross sections of this emerging industry.

Some highlights of SPI education include:

  • QuickTalks: 25-minute sessions with timely topics from industry leaders.
  • General Sessions: Get inspiration and insight from the visionaries, policy analysts and financial experts about the “big picture” in solar energy development.
  • Walking Sessions: Live demonstrations on the expo floor from the industry’s innovators.
  • Educational Posters: Explore industry innovations, research and best practices.

SPI will also feature expo-floor education in the following areas:

  • Industry Trends: SEPA and SEIA discuss current trends, research and analysis.
  • Installer Training: Comprehensive technical training from certified instructors.
  • Smart Energy Stage: Installer education on solar plus technologies, such as storage, smart home and electric vehicles.
  • Storage Central: Education on new products, manufacturing companies and customer demands.
  • Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Stage: Education on synergy effects between energy storage and solar.

Many of these education sessions and workshops also offer North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) credit for attendance.

The Technical Symposium

The Technical Symposium is an event for scientific and technical communities to share new research in the solar, storage and smart energy industries. Over a three-day period, the Technical Symposium will feature keynote presentations from industry leaders.

No other event pairs the best technical and scientific content with business leaders and innovators for unprecedented collaboration. The Technical Symposium is a must for anyone looking to move business, and this industry, forward.

Networking Opportunities

As the largest solar and storage event in the country, one of the greatest benefits for SPI exhibitors and attendees is the networking opportunity. From Young Professionals Happy Hour, an event for those new to the solar industry, to ESI: Beers with Peers, a gathering for energy storage professionals, there are many chances to rub elbows with some of the greatest minds in the alternative energy industry.

The Start-Up Showcase is another exciting event presented by SPI. Thanks to events such as this, industry leaders and innovators come together to inspire the up-and-coming minds to lead the future. With the Start-Up Showcase, you’ll hear from some of the new visionaries causing a stir in the solar industry.

Special Events

SPI is the place to learn, explore and network, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Foster new business connections and relationships while also blowing off a little steam at one of these exciting events:

  • SPI Golf Tournament.
  • Welcome Networking Event.
  • Run With the Sun 5K.
  • Annual Block Party.
  • Solar Job Fair.
  • Professional Women in Solar and Storage Luncheon, an annual event featuring the most powerful women in the industry sharing the newest trends and insights for the industry future.

Some of these events may require an additional fee to attend.

Why Exhibit?

SPI is not only the premier solar event in North America, but it also draws some of the biggest names in the industry for unique networking and educational opportunities. Your exhibitor registration also includes complimentary exhibitor and client passes to maximize your networking opportunities, a listing in the exhibitor list for additional promotion, and a listing in the printed show directory to help potential customers find you easily.

You’ll also have a chance to network with many experts, such as architects, engineers, contractors, developers and other professionals, to develop new ideas and innovations for your business. Policymakers will also be in attendance, so you can stay aware of the policy developments that may affect your business.

This event regularly attracts over 20,000 attendees and 750 exhibitors from around the world, so you can’t afford to miss this.

Targeted Audiences

SPI is a four-day event, but there’s a lot to see and do in a short amount of time. Fortunately, the expo floor is segmented into different pavilions to enhance networking and business opportunities and to help attendees locate exhibitors easily.

These pavilions include:

  • Energy Storage International.
  • Smart Energy Microgrid Marketplace.
  • Software.
  • Asset Management and Performance.
  • Commercial and Industrial Solutions.
  • Electric Vehicles.

These pavilions will represent all cross sections of the industry, including installers, developers, contractors, commercial builders, home automation experts, utilities, smart home builders, manufacturers, engineering firms, project developers, finance companies and storage experts.

Prepare for Your Exhibit

SPI is streamlined to ensure you have access to the most relevant professionals and events for your specific business, but you still have a lot to see in a short time, especially with the packed educational session schedule.

The best way to make the most of your experience is to come up with a detailed itinerary for the event. Plan the education sessions and workshops you want to attend, research the other exhibitors and speakers, leave time to meet with them, and make note of any demonstrations or networking events that are important to you.

This is the largest solar event in the country, so plan accordingly to ensure you reap all the benefits of this opportunity.

Set Yourself Apart

Trade shows are great for learning and networking, but there’s also some stiff competition. At SPI, you’ll be surrounded by leaders from every facet of the solar industry in North America, so you can’t afford to blend in with the crowd.

You have to be professional, but you also have to be memorable. You want your potential customers to be attracted to your booth and feel compelled to talk to you so that you can offer them insight and advice. Create a striking — but not too gimmicky — booth, prepare your pitch, pack your business cards and write down contact information to follow up with everyone you talk to.

Invest in Promotional Gifts

Promotional gifts are an important part of trade-show marketing, but they need to be the right products. Cheap logo products that everyone has, like pens and erasers, won’t help you stand out. Unique, high-quality promotional gifts will get you far more attention, and they don’t need to be expensive to send the message. Focus on an eye-catching logo and choose something your visitors can use, like a catalog or smartphone cover.

You can also give away one big-ticket item for more engagement and interest. Give your big gift to your prospects or host a game that’s relevant to your industry at your booth and use your big gift as the grand prize. Just be sure to gather contact information on the sign-up sheet to follow up with your prospects.
