Trade show booths can be a great way to market to a very specific set of people. Nobody just wanders into a trade show; and almost everybody in attendance is looking to network, make a deal, sell something, or all three. So the way you treat your booth really matters – never mind booth space is expensive! You don’t want to waste the cost and opportunity. Here are a couple pointers to make your next trade show experience a fruitful one:

~The Booth is an Office, Not a Kitchen
Think of your trade show booth like you do your own office while important visitors are present. When visitors come to the office, do you sit and read a book? Do you eat? Of course not; and you shouldn’t do these things in public at a trade show. The gentlemen in the picture above seem to have the right idea in the layout of their booth, their attire, and their attitudes.

~Be Welcoming
People appreciate a smile and a firm handshake, and a trade show is no exception. Be on your toes and ready to greet people. Don’t be aggressive, but don’t be shy either. You’re here to meet people, and they are too! When in doubt, stand, make eye contact, introduce yourself, and shake a few hands. Oh, and bring hand sanitizer – just hide it from view!
